This is one of the villages in the Golan Heights, an area of Syria occupied by Israel since 1967 and unilaterally annexed in 1981. Under Israeli law and de facto, the Golan Heights are part of Israel. International law and the United Nations still recognize the Golan Heights as part of Syria.


Description

Local Council Buk'ata is situated in the Golan Heights. The village was founded in 1870 and got 4,500 inh., all Druze. I was notified by the local council that the municipal flag is white with emblem. The municipal emblem was published in the official gazette (Rashumot, Yalkut ha-Pirsumim), YP 4348, 12 November 1995.
